NFL Mock Draft 2016

Here is my attempt at the ancient ritual of predicting the first round of the NFL Draft. I didn't include any potential trades because that just turns into a fantasy draft. So here's what I think each team is going to do in the first round. Just don't hold me accountable when my predictions look like a huge disaster after five picks on Thursday night.

I Wish The Cleveland Cavaliers Were More Fun To Watch

When asked, "why do you play so hard?" Joe DiMaggio gave this now famous quote, "Because there is always some kid who may be seeing me for the first time. I owe him my best." I wish the Cleveland Cavaliers shared that same mantra. Because with the team entering the NBA Playoffs, I can't remember the last time they gave me real joy.

NFL Mock Draft No. 1-10

Today marks the official start of the NFL Offseason. Some big trades and signing have already been agreed to verbally, with more likely to follow soon. While the veterans cash in, the NFL Draft machine picks up momentum. And that means it's Mock Draft time.

Early Favorites for Super Bowl 51

The offseason brings change. Through the draft, roster cuts, and free agency, 2016 rosters will look incredibly different from just a year ago. But that doesn't mean some teams have a clear foundation laid and already favorites to make it to Super Bowl 51. Here are my top choices, starting with some repeat trips.

Five Disappointing Sports Stories of 2015

There were some great sports moments in 2015. We saw a horse win the Triple Crown. Serena Williams dominated tennis. The Best Football Rivalry is Not Manning vs. Brady

FIFA announced the shortlist for the 2014-15 Ballon d'Orr over the weekend. It included 23 of the best footballers from around the world, all having accomplished seasons and deserved mention for FIFA's top individual award (for reference, 11 of the 23 nominees play for either Real Madrid or Barcelona). But make no mistake, this is a two horse race between Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi.

Scheduled for Success

On Thursday Night Football, the Indianapolis Colts beat the Houston Texans to win their 16th straight game against AFC South opponents. Since drafting Andrew Luck in 2012, they've gone 18-2 against their division rivals. Having six relatively easy games a year makes 10-win seasons look pretty simple, but not everyone is as fortunate as the Colts.

Some Unlikely Heisman Candidates

My brother had to stop me from listing off more Heisman candidates on our last episode. So I decided to toss the rest of my candidates onto a nice blog post. Projecting Heisman winners is a difficult task. The candidate needs some combination of statistics and big-game heroics while leading a successful team (nine of the last twelve Heisman winners played in the championship game).

Let the Posturing Begin

The first Coaches' Poll of the 2015 college football season dropped last week, and there is plenty to talk about and discuss. Most will say the rankings are pretty meaningless, with the path to the College Football Playoff pretty clear: go undefeated or lose once early in the season and then win your conference championship.  But here were the top four teams in last year's coaches' poll heading into the 2014 season: Florida State, Alabama, Oklahoma and Oregon.
